Christopher Chad Walseth was born on March 27, 1977, to Lee and Hollie (Baker) Walseth. He passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the age of 49, surrounded by his loved ones.

Chris was a proud father to his daughters, Summer Dawn, Autumn Rayn, and August Lily. He was also a proud grandpa to Carter John and Rylee Rayn, who held a special place in his heart.

Chris was a quiet, gentle soul who cherished spending time with family and friends. Though he was a man of few words, he held a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He had a love for music, especially Pink Floyd. Despite his shy nature, Chris carried on the Walseth family’s musical talent. He also shared his father Lee’s love of working on cars and was a very talented mechanic. Chris also spent time managing Hardee’s.

Chris will be remembered for his quiet presence, his gentle spirit, and the love he shared with those closest to him. His life was an important part of his family’s story, and his memory will continue to live on through the people who loved him.

Chris had an infectious laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved pulling pranks and making those around him laugh, leaving behind countless memories and smiles. He was a lifelong, devoted Minnesota Vikings fan.

He is survived by his daughters, Summer (Bradlee) Schmidt and August Lefrooth; his mother, Hollie; his sister, Callie (Keith Melvie); his beloved grandchildren, Carter John and Rylee Rayn; his nephew, Shayne (Allison) Melvie, and their children, Ruben, Jordyn, Brendan, and Henry; his nephews, Eli Melvie and Chase Walseth; and his nieces, Josie Melvie, Kayla (Wyatt) Olson and their daughters, Harper, Maddy, and Aspen, and Trinity (Zach Lubitz) Walseth and their daughter, Kinsleigh. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, as well as his special friend, Bev Callahan.

Chris was welcomed into heaven by his daughter, Autumn; his father, Lee; his brother, Vernon; his grandparents, Lucile and Ernie Baker and Gladys and Harold Walseth; and several aunts and uncles.

Though he will be deeply missed, Chris will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

The family suggests casual attire for all guests at the service. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM with the service to celebrate Christopher’s life at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor Matty Touse from Epiphany Station officiating. A lunch and reception will follow the service. Burial will be at the Community Cemetery in St. Hilaire, MN.
