Obituary

Clara Bjerklie-Peterson, 93, of Oklee, MN formerly of Trail, MN died on Saturday March 17, 2012 at her home at the Freedom Living Center in Oklee. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 21, 2012 at 10:30 AM in Nazareth Lutheran Church rural Trail, MN with Reverend Joseph Abrahamson Officiating. Burial will be held at the Nazareth Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee and also one hour prior to services at the church. Clara Viola Mostrom was born June 27, 1918 at Neptune, MN daughter of the late John and Helene (Arveson) Mostrom. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Woodview School in Hickory Township. Clara worked as a housekeeper, and in bakeries in Duluth and Thief River Falls. During WWII she worked as a welder in the shipyards in Seattle, WA. On June 10, 1946 she was united in marriage to Ludvig Bjerklie at the parsonage in Trail, MN by Reverend Lee. The couple lived and farmed by Trail, MN in Hickory Township. To this union six children were born. Lewie passed away on April 17, 1971. Clara remarried to Kenneth Peterson on November 19, 1983 at the parsonage in Gully, MN. With her second marriage Clara gained another son Leon Peterson. Kenneth died at the VA Hospital in Fargo, ND on April 3, 1994. Clara worked for the CETA program for Inter-County Community Council, worked on the assembly line at Arctic Cat for Lyle Mandt chicken farm and also worked very hard on the farm taking care of any job that needed to be done. She moved to Valley Home in Thief River Falls March of 2010 and the Freedom Living Center in Oklee Nov. 12, 2010 where she has since resided. Clara enjoyed crocheting, flower and vegetable gardening, baking and cooking. She made many donuts, cookies and brownies. She was a gracious hostess and welcomed all through her door with a cup of coffee. Clara lived for her family and doted on each and every one of them. Clara was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and the ladies aid, the Sons Of Norway and the VFW Auxiliary of Trail, MN. She is survived by her children Rodney (Cheryl) Bjerklie of Trail, MN, Bruce (Renae) Bjerklie of Goodridge, MN, Richard (Joni) Bjerklie of Trail, MN, Renae (Gene) Marquis of Goodridge, MN, Janelle (Craig) Fast of Big Lake, MN and Leon Peterson of Gully, MN. Grandchildren Allie (Aaron) Enge, Lucas (Sarah) Bjerklie, Aric Bjerklie, Kelly (Greg) Melin, Matthew (Kristen) Bjerklie, Emily (Isaac) Magnell, Christopher (special friend Kristy Nelson) Bjerklie, Jami (fiancé Rich Hendrickson) Eischens, Bryan Bjerklie, Cory Marquis, Andrea (Cody) Halvorson, Megan (Nick) Erickson, Derek Fast and Melissa Fast. Great-grandchildren Blake and Rylie Bjerklie, Hannah and Nolan Enge, Gerald, Oliver and Emmitt Melin, Kia and Cali Green, Liza Bjerklie, Clowie, Eli and Liam Magnell, Lawren and Lizzy Wadena, Emma and Natalee Eischens, Ava and Julia Halvorson. One brother Ernest (Lorraine) Mostrom of Trail, MN. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Ludvig Bjerklie and Kenneth Peterson, son (Larry) Duane Bjerklie, grandson Ryan Lynn Bjerklie, parents, sisters Hilma Wilson, Cora Oftelie, Ruth Wilson, Myrtle Gulseth, Ida Haugen and one sister in infancy. Brothers William, Albert and Orben Mostrom.
