Clara I. Johnson, 99, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, Thief River Falls, MN
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Mark Helgeland officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be 4 " 8 PM, Friday, July 23, 2004 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Clara Isabelle Jensen was born April 19, 1905 in Bygland, MN, the daughter of Soren and Carrie (Legvold) Jensen. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and attended rural school near Oklee, MN.
On July 11, 1925, Clara was united in marriage to Albert Johnson at Oklee, MN. The couple farmed in Mayfield Township, Pennington County, MN until 1962, when they retired and moved to Thief River Falls, MN. Clara was a cook at Valley Home and Oakland Park Nursing Home. She lived the last six years at Northwest Medical Center, CNC, where she enjoyed Bingo and special music.
Clara enjoyed cooking and baking, but her biggest pleasure were visits from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a past member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN and was currently a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, since moving to Thief River Falls. Clara was also a member of the church circles and the Golden Age Group.
Clara is survived by daughters, Ruth (Roy) Gilbert and Linda Johnson, both of Thief River Falls, MN and Kathryn (Arnold) Carriere of Fargo, ND; six grandchildren: Julie, Jerol, Jeff, Steve, Stacy and Melissa; seven great grandchildren: Lindsay, Leah, J. R., Michael, Chloe, Dain and Cassandra; one sister, Selma Haun of Thief River Falls, MN; one brother-in-law; and five sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert on November 14, 1981; one granddaughter in infancy, Sheila Carriere; her parents; one sister, Leola Gunderson; two brothers: Osmond Jensen, and Leonel Jensen in infancy.
