Clara Reierson, age 102, of Holt, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN, with Rev. Cathie Rhodes officiating. Interment will take place at the Holt Cemetery in Holt, MN.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the church.
The daughter of Norwegian immigrants, Knute and Karen (Ellingson) Nelson, Clara Amanda Nelson was born on April 6, 1916, in the N.E. part of Mud Lake, MN, now the Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. She grew up and attended school at Bungulow School and also attended Wilson School.
On November 19, 1934 Clara was united in marriage to Lawrence Reierson at Thief River Falls, MN. To this union six children were born: Carol, LaVern, Yvonne, Katherine, Joel, and Linda. Lawrence passed away on April 5, 1968.
Clara was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN, and was a lifetime member.
Clara loved the farming lifestyle with her cattle and pets. In 1998 her farm was recognized as a Century Farm. Clara loved working – at Kife's Café, Valley Home, Turkey Plant, and spent many years at Arctic Cat, retiring in 1981.
Clara was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She also belonged to the Mud Lakers, a group that occasionally gathered and shared good times. Clara loved to travel, make quilts, play cards, Bingo, going to the casino, and dancing. Clara was known for the best baked beans, lefse, and donuts.
Clara is survived by her children, LaVern (Mary) Reierson of Holt, MN, Yvonne Reierson of Thief River Falls, MN, Joel (Krys) Reierson of Delta Junction, AK, and Linda (Rodney) Taggart of Thief River Falls, MN; 21 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 102 great great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; daughters, Carol Klaven and Katherine Rasmussen; son-in-law, Clayton Klaven; grandson, Bruce Lerol; granddaughters, Jenny, Lori, Laura, and baby Rasmussen; great-granddaughters, Dana and Jackie; her parents; brothers, Johnny and Edwin; and sisters, Anna, Olga, Emma, and Gladys.
