Clarence Marcotte, 82, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Thursday, March 30, 2000 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN. Arrangements with the Petterson Funeral home in Red Lake Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2000 at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.
Visitation will be held on Monday 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 Prayer service and also one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls.
Clarence Raymond Marcotte was born June 7, 1917 at Dorothy, MN son of the late Archie and Sophie (Benoit) Marcotte. He attended St. Joseph School in Red Lake Falls and attended Northwest Agricultural School in Crookston. Clarence farmed and drove gas truck for the Farmers Union. On September 14, 1938 he was united in marriage to Frances Johanneck at St. Marys Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. Clarence served in the Military during W.W.II in the Pacific Theater and in Japan from April 20, 1944 to June 9, 1945. He returned to Red Lake Falls and was employed by the City of Red Lake Falls from 1948 until his retirement in 1981 in the Street Maintenance and Water Department. Following his retirement he worked part time at Teds Dairy and the Red Lake County State Bank.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was an active member of the American Legion Post and life member of the VFW serving as a past commander and in 1983 served as National aide-de-camp. He was a member of the 40 & 8 and the Red Lake County Sportsman Club. Delivered meals on wheels and was a former member of St. Marys Catholic Church and an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Clarence was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Frances Marcotte of Red Lake Falls, MN children Duane Marcotte of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Leroy (Carol) Marcotte of Red Lake Falls and June (Joseph) Miller of Lake Park, MN; daughter in law Marilyn Marcotte-Franklin of Moorhead, MN. Nine grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 1 step great-grandchild. One brother Donovan (Donna) Marcotte of Sleepy Eye, MN and two sisters Gladys (Bill) Reuter of Richfield, MN and Lorraine (Henry) Gagner of St. Louis Park, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Willard Marcotte Nov. 23, 1980 3 brothers Harry, Willard and Lester, one sister Bernice Peterson.
