Clayton Schmidtgall, 67, died on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at his home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Merrill Kindall officiating. There will be a private burial at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, May 29, 2006 at the Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Monday evening and at the church for one prior to service on Tuesday.
Clayton Schmidtgall was born on August 19, 1938 in Garrison, ND, the son of Emil and Louise (Boger) Schmidtgall. He was baptized and confirmed at the Congregational Church in Garrison and also attended Garrison Public School. Clayton served his Country in the United States Navy.
Clayton was united in marriage to Delilah Dee Steinwand on December 28, 1958 in Benedict, ND. Clayton was employed by the Railroad. The couple lived in Garrison for ten years, before moving to Harvey, ND for five years. In 1974 they moved to Thief River Falls, MN, retiring from the Railroad in 2000.
Clayton was very interested in History, including Political History, Russian History and he enjoyed reading President Lincoln History. He was a Certified Tinkerer, loved to visit with his friends and neighbors, but, his delight was spending time with his five great grandchildren. Clayton was a wonderful husband, a great father and a man of high integrity.
He was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, where he served as Treasurer and Trustee of the church.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Dee, of Thief River Falls, MN; one son, Kirby Schmidtgall of Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren: Jessica (Jerry) Nordby, Angela (Nick) Larson, Alison (special friend Shane Voss), Schmidtgall, and Travis Schmidtgall; five great grandchildren: Donovan, Julianne, Olivia, Ashton and Morgan; and one sister, Donna Schmidt.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie McMahon and his parents.
