Clifford Francis Homstad was born September 29, 1915 in rural Hallock, MN son of Elias and Annie (Johnson) Homstad. He grew up in rural Hallock and attended Riverside School Dist. #29 and graduated from the Agricultural College in Crookston, MN in 1935. He worked in California and Washington and returned home for a time before entering the United States Army in 1942. He served for 3 years, stationed in Italy and the US during WWII.

On July 30, 1946, Clifford was united in marriage to Genevieve Irene Keuhn in Eureka, South Dakota. The couple lived in International Falls, MN where he worked for the paper mill.They returned to the Homstad family farm in 1947 in rural Hallock where the couple farmed for many years. Clifford worked for Hallett Construction from 1959 to 1969. They retired to Thief River Falls in 1988. Cliffords wife of 56 years, Genevieve, died January of 2003. Clifford resided at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls since February of 2002.

Clifford enjoyed reading, politics, farming and studying religion. He was an active member of the Farmers Union, served on the Lake Bronson School Board and Kittson County FHA Board. He was an active member of the United Church of God.

Survived by six children: Deanna (Lester) Hanson, Torrance, CA, Marcia (friend Bob Nelson) Sandahl, Thief River Falls, MN, Jennifer (Marshall) Vagle, Thief River Falls, MN, Jeffrey (Annette) Homstad, Hallock, MN, Cynthia (Ken) Cedergren, Thief River Falls, MN and Kimberley (Jerry) Stormo, East Grand Forks, MN; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren three sisters Grace Brown of Hallock, MN; Lenore Foss of Grand Rapids, MN; Myrtle Boring of Ventura, CA, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by wife, Genevieve, son, Milo in 1968, parents, one brother Maurice and two sisters Beulah Soderberg and Lorraine Homstad who died in infancy.
