Our dear father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Clinton Theroux, 87, died Monday, October 31, 2005 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 PM, Friday, November 4, 2005 at St. Josephs Church, Red Lake Falls, MN, with Father Tim Bushy presiding. Burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN.
Visitation will be 4 " 6 PM, Thursday, November 3, 2005 at St. Josephs Church, Red Lake Falls, MN with a 5:30 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.
Clinton Paul Theroux was born February 22, 1918 at Terrebonne, MN, the son of Joseph and Leah (Quesnell) Theroux. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Terrebonne. He grew up on the family farm near Terrebonne and attended country school. He graduated from LaFayette High School, class of 1939. Following school, Clinton learned baking from J. B. LaFramboise, who had the bakery in Red Lake Falls at the time.
Clinton served his country in the United States Navy, during World War II, where he served as a baker on USS Ranger. He achieved the rank of E5. He also served at Manteo, NC. During the Korean War he served in Oakland, CA. Following his honorable discharge, he went to work for Northern States Power in Red Lake Falls for 16 years.
On June 16, 1941, Clinton was united in marriage to Pauline Robidoux at St. Josephs Church, Red Lake Falls, MN. They were married for 52 years. He bought the bakery in Red Lake Falls in 1959. It was called the Princess Bake Shoppe , named after his loving wife, Pauline. Clinton and Pauline sold the bakery in 1971. In 1974, they purchased the Hartz Store in Plummer, MN and operated it until 1976, while in Plummer Clinton served as mayor. In 1976, they moved to Crookston, MN, where he managed the VFW and also worked at Hardees for many years.
Currently, Clinton was a member of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, Crookston, MN and a former member of St. Josephs, Red Lake Falls. He also held membership with the Crookston American Legion and VFW. He liked to work, bake and was an exceptional cook. He always enjoyed people.
Clinton is survived by 3 children, Douglas (Bonnie), Weaverville, NC, Valerie (Jim) Green, Dayton, OH and Claudette (Ken) Froehle, Salt Lake City, UT; 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Marvin (B.J.), California; 3 sisters, Barbara Faye, California, Rita Hamm, Melrose, MN and Eva Mae Bergeron, Crookston, MN; sister-in-law, Althea Theroux, Tucson, AZ; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by wife, Pauline, April 17, 1993; parents, 2 brothers, Paul and Gary and a sister, Dorothy.
