Cole Dahlen, 15, died on Thursday, June 23, 2005, due to a swimming accident, near Grygla, MN

Cole Erling Dahlen was born on October 27, 1989 in Bemidji, MN, the son of Kelly and Brenda (Halvorson) Dahlen. He was baptized at Ekelund Lutheran Church and confirmed at Ekelund Lutheran Church on April 10, 2005 by Reverend Bob Dahlen.

Bully was a nickname given to Cole by his sister, Kasey. He attended school in Goodridge, MN and just finished the 9th grade. Bully had just received his Farm Permit to drive. He had been driving the farm machinery and equipment including their backhoe and caterpillar for the last several years. He wasnt afraid to try anything or do anything. Bully learned how to dance with his mom and sisters in the kitchen.

Bully was idolized by his cousins and little kids in the area. He treated everyone with respect and could talk to adults and little kids, just the same. He always had a smile on his face.

He loved basketball and started on the Varsity Basketball Team this year. Bully also loved playing football as wide receiver, punter, and defensive back. He enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family at the cabin, riding motorcycles, all sports, working with cattle and especially farming with his dad and Uncle Dave. He lived every day to the fullest, liked to go ice fishing and ride his Arctic Cat snowmobile.

Cole is survived by his parents, Kelly and Brenda Dahlen of Goodridge, MN; brother and sisters: Kristin Halvorson, Cody Halvorson and special friend, Andrea Marquis and Kasey Dahlen, all of Goodridge, MN; grandmothers: Ella Englund of Thief River Falls, MN and Marilyn Halvorson of Trail, MN; great grandmother, Bergit Sordahl of Fosston, MN; uncles and aunts: Kurt (Janet) Halvorson and Denise (Bruce) Peterson, both of Oklee, MN, Elaine (Dave) Roehl of Bloomington, MN, David (Gayle) Dahlen and Jeff (Shirley) Dahlen, both of Goodridge, MN, Joel (Rosie) Dahlen of Thief River Falls, MN, Carolyn (Scott) Pahlen of Roosevelt, MN, Kevin Dahlen and special friend, Kathy Opdahl of Thief River Falls, MN, Donna Dahlen and special friend, Rob Endly of Bloomington, MN, Leah (Mike) Nelson of Madison, WI and Steve (LaDora) Dahlen of St. Hilaire, MN; cousins: Brent, Michelle, Courtney, Angie, Dustin, Stacey, Shane, Bryan, Nikki, Holli, Robby, Bobbi Jo, Jamie, T.J., Taylor, Erin, Zachary, Jacob, Elliot and Desirae; his special friend, Alisha Verbout of Grygla, MN and his 2nd cousin and friend, Larry Good of Redby, MN; and also many great aunts, uncles, family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Dennis Halvorson, Erling Dahlen and Gene Englund; and one aunt, Cheryl Dahlen in infancy.
