Curtis R. Anderson, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, August 3, 2007 at the Karlstad Baptist Church in Karlstad, MN with Pastor David Ingraham officiating. Burial will follow at the Karlstad Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Lake Bronson/Halma American Legion Post 315.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service Thursday, August 2, 2007 at the Karlstad Baptist Church in Karlstad, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral at church.

Curtis Raliegh Anderson was born in Manson, Manitoba, Canada on December 28, 1928 the youngest of six children born to Albert M. J. and Myrtle (Hanson) Anderson. He was always very proud of his Canadian heritage.

On October 25, 1934, Curtis with his family and beloved dog, Sport, moved in a covered wagon, from Manson, MB to Litchfield, MN. Because of a snow storm, the family had to stop in Karlstad, MN for the winter, where they remained and made their home. Curtis attended school through the eighth grade.

At the age of 14 Curtis, along with his father, Albert, went to Cando, ND to work in the fields during the summer and fall months. On January 25, 1946, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was Honorably Discharged on November 24, 1947 from the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, TX. After his discharge he went back to Cando, ND to work where he met his future bride, Jeannine Gerrard.

Curtis and Jeannine were married on January 14, 1949 in Devils Lake, ND and in the fall of 1949 they moved to Karlstad, MN and made their home. Later that fall, they started their trucking business, which has included hauling potatoes, grain, fertilizer, machinery, gravel and livestock. In 1954, they carved their present home, the Lazy A Ranch, from the woods and rocks of Arveson Township.

They made their first cattle purchase from the Albert M.J. Anderson estate in 1957 and they continued to expand their cattle operation throughout the years. Curtis started to haul cattle to South St. Paul in 1957, as the Karlstad Truck Line which later became Anderson and Son Trucking. He was joined in the business by his sons, Ronald and Daniel.

Through the years, Curtis enjoyed clearing and developing the land alongside his wife, children and grandchildren. He was an avid deer hunter and horseman. He greatly loved spending time with family and friends. He wasnt afraid to tackle any job. He always stood by his saying that no job is too big or too small!! Curtis had a keen sense of humor and a natural ability to tell a great story. Curtis was a beloved, wonderful husband, father, granddad, and great granddad, who will truly be missed.

In 1999, Curtis and Jeannine celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. He followed the Lord in baptism and was a member of Karlstad Baptist Church, where he held numerous offices. Curtis served on the Arveson Twp. Board for over 40 years.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Jeannine of over 58 years of Karlstad, MN; 5 children, Ronald (LaVonne) Anderson of Karlstad, MN, Debra (Dennis) Klopp of Karlstad, MN, Marjorie (Daniel) Peterson of Osakis, MN, Daniel (Vickie) Anderson of Grand Forks, ND, and Rebecca (David) Anderson of Gully, MN; 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Reynold and Lawrence Olson; and sister-in-law, Bernadette Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters, Blanche, Mildred, Evelyn, and Hildred; brother, James; great-grandson, Ty Sigerud; and brothers-in-law, Bill Wayne and Mervin Skadsem.
