In the later 1950's, they moved to Gatzke, MN where they owned and operated a general merchandise store which they called, Thompson Grocery. Then, Curt and Elaine moved to Thief River Falls where Curt worked at Forsberg's and later at Bridgeman's where he retired from after 30 years of service. He also worked for a time on the pipeline which ran between Grafton and Bemidji; and he also worked as a carpenter building houses in the Thief River Falls area. They also lived in Minneapolis for a few years where Curt worked for Navy Ordinance making pumps, torpedo tubes and gun housing for ships. Since 1966 they resided in their home in Newfolden, MN, that Curtis built.
