Cynthia Marie LaFontaine, 68, of Red Lake Falls, MN, formerly of Menomonie, WI, died suddenly on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Sandford Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Services will be held at a later date.
On October 14, 1954, Cynthia was born to Roy and Dorothy (Trnka) Smith, at Okinawa, Japan, where her father was serving in the United States Army. The family lived in Long Beach, CA, prior to coming back to the Twin Cities, MN. She attended Johnson High School, in St. Paul, MN, graduating in 1974. In 1979, Cynthia was united in marriage to Ron LaFontaine in St. Paul, MN. They lived in the Twin Cities, until Ron passed way in August of 2015. Cynthia moved to Menomonie, WI, in 2016. In 2022, she moved to Red Lake Falls to live with her son and family.
Cynthia was a lively, vibrant person who lived by her own rules. She loved her grandchildren and playing video games. Playing in Dart League was a lot of fun for her. Family time was treasured by Cynthia. Elvis Presley was Cynthia favorite musician; this year the family bought her Elvis Presly Boots. Cynthia enjoyed taking adventures—driving around and seeing various sites. She will be greatly missed.
Cynthia is survived by her children: Chad (Kristen) Smith, Red Lake Falls, MN, Kim LaFontaine, North St. Paul, MN, Gail LaFontaine, Menomonie, WI, and Ron (Candace) Middleton, Menomonie, WI; grandchildren: Gillian Glendenning, Olivia and Gracie Fehrman, Valerie Smith, Giada Glendenning, Aleah and Sahara; siblings: Marlene Acciari, Brooklyn Park, MN, Kenneth (Deb) Smith, MN, Barbara Middleton, Menomonie, WI; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
