Obituary

Cynthia Cindy Waale, 58, died Friday, May 8, 2009 at her residence in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Abundant Life Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, with Reverend Wesley Langaas officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 12, 2009 with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 PM until time of services Wednesday at church.

Cynthia Kay Waale was born April 11, 1951 at Ada, MN, the daughter of Ole and Joyce (Jackson) Waale. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Washington Elementary School, Franklin Junior High and graduated Lincoln High School in 1969, where she was accepted into the National Honor Society. Cindy began working at Northwestern Bell Company, Thief River Falls, right out of high school, as a long distance operator. She finished 6 years with Bell in Thief River Falls and then transferred to Grand Forks, ND, where she worked for 6 years. Cindy transferred to Fargo, ND, which she loved, and ended her career in 1999, with 30 years of service. After her retirement, she returned home to Thief River Falls, to spend time with her parents.

In her early years, Cindy was a Girl Scout. She enjoyed reading, watching TV and was a big sports fan, especially baseball, football and tennis. She enjoyed traveling and camping with her family, loved music and going to concerts. One of Cindys greatest accomplishments was obtaining a drivers license while living in Fargo.

Cindy is survived by her father, Ole G. Waale, Thief River Falls, MN; brother, Brent T. Waale, Thief River Falls, MN along with 4 nieces, 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews.

She was preceded in death by mother Joyce Waale in 2002; brother, Douglas Waale in 1989 and a sister, Patricia Nelson in 2003; grandparents; niece, Heather Jean Nelson and numerous aunts and uncles.
