Daniel Kukowski of Viking, MN, passed peacefully at North Star Manor in Warren, MN, on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the age of 79.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Father Rick Lambert, officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at St. Aloysius Catholic Church Cemetery in Leo, Roseau County, MN.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Johnson Funeral Service.

Daniel Raymond Kukowski was born on August 25, 1938 in Greenbush, MN.  He was the son of John and Marian Kukowski and grew up in rural Greenbush where he attended school.  Daniel was married to Barbara (Olsonoski) Kuznia and moved to Minneapolis.  They had four children Dean, Dennis, Debbie, and Darrell.  Daniel worked at Super Value in Hopkins, MN, but he still had the dream of moving back to northern Minnesota to live on a farm.  In 1975, Daniel moved to Viking, MN where he bought a farm and worked at Hartz Foods in Thief River Falls.

On April 5, 1991, Daniel was united in marriage to Donna Helgeland in Sisseton, SD.  Daniel and Donna made their home in Viking until Daniel became a resident at North Star Manor. Together they enjoyed ice fishing, traveling, and spending time with family.  Daniel really enjoyed living on the farm - tending to it and tinkering in his garage.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Donna, of Thief River Falls; four children: Dean of Newfolden, Dennis of Coon Rapids, Debbie of Blaine, and Darrell (Victoria) of East Bethel; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; step-children, Tracy Boman and Kyle Boman both of Thief River Falls, MN; and 4 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Marian, his brother Norbert, two sister-in-laws, Darlene and Marcella; and step-daughter, Sheri Boman.
