Daniel Raymond Schmidt, 42, of Oak Vale, California formerly of Red Lake Falls, MN died on November 24, 2001 at Oak Vale, California.

Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2001 at 2:00 PM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim McGee Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday only.

Daniel Raymond Schmidt was born December 16, 1958 in Red Lake Falls, MN son of Raymond and Lorraine (Sauve) Schmidt. He attended school at St. Joseph Catholic School and Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls. He entered the US Navy in 1976 and served until his honorable discharge in 1981. He lived in Bremerton, Washington and in the fall of 1981 started working in the shipyards where he worked until 1992. He worked in Alaska on Fishing boats for a couple of years and the last four years were spent in Oak Vale, California as a self employed Master Carpenter.
Daniel loved to work with wood making beautiful clocks, chairs and many other pieces. Being in the Navy he made many neat things of rope. He enjoyed being at sea and the time spent outside.
He is survived by his mother Lorraine Schmidt Brown of Red Lake Falls, MN; brothers and sister Dean Schmidt (DeeAnn) of Crookston, MN; Peggy Hooser (Brian) of Red Lake Falls, MN and Tim Schmidt (Nanci) of Moorhead, MN: nieces and nephews Nathan, David, Kramer, Dylan, Melinda, Michelle and Melissa. One step-daughter Beth Erickson of Albert Lea, MN: several uncles, aunts and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father Raymond Schmidt: step father Chet Brown; 1 nephew Nathan Schmidt and 2 infant brothers John and Joseph.
