Obituary

Darlene Bennett, 79, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the River of Life Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor Troy Bates officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening at the church. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN. Darlene Delores (Warner) Bennett was born on May 4, 1933 in Buffalo, SD, the daughter of Frank Cornelius Warner and Elva Gladys (Robins) Warner. She was dedicated in the Assembly of God Church in Buffalo. Darlene also attended school in Buffalo, graduating in 1951 from Buffalo High School. Following high school Darlene worked as a cleaner at the local hospital and later as a bank teller. She attended the Central Bible Institute in Springfield, MO. In 1954 Darlene was united in marriage to Billy Eugene Martindale in Denver, CO. To this union a son, Terrence Eugene Martindale was born. In 1958, Darlene was united in marriage to John Alton Bennett in Wickenburg, AZ. Together with Terrence, they welcomed five more children to their family: David Alton, Cynthia Lorraine, Jerry Wayne, Cheryl Lynne, and Judy Ann. While the children were growing, John worked as a logger all over the United States. The family moved a lot due to John's work but eventually settled in Louisiana. For several years Darlene worked for Railroad Retirement, posting all the retirement salaries for all the employees in the U.S. In 1983 John passed away. Darlene moved to California to live with John's sister. In 1995 she visited her daughter, Cheryl in Red Lake Falls, MN and has since made her home there. She was very family orientedDarlene dearly loved her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Darlene is survived by her children, Terrence Martindale of Red Lake Falls, MN, Cynthia (Frank) Lorraine McCloud Potter of Washington State, Cheryl Pearson of Red Lake Falls, MN, and Judy Tonelli of Red Lake Falls, MN; grandchildren, Nathan Martindale, David Martindale, Andrea (Chris) Sjaardema, Joshua James McCloud, Michael (Rachael) Paul McCloud, Shoshannah Anne McCloud, Zakariah Allan Tonelli, Daniel Adam O'Donnell, Amanda Lynne Pearson, and Kassandra Ann Pearson; great-grandchildren, Emmaline Catrine McCloud, Caleb Isaac McCloud, and Henry Maxxwell Elliot Schambeau; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, John; sons, Jerry and David; her parents; and sisters, Ellen Peabody and Opal Haroldson.
