Darlene Freyholtz, 68, died Saturday, November 8, 2003 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plummer, MN, with Reverend Frank Ehling officiating. Burial will be at Emardville Cemetery, Emardville Township, Red Lake County, MN.

Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plummer, MN, with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Darlene Joanne Barker was born July 14, 1935, the daughter of Sidney and Edna (Rutledge) Barker, at Lamberton, MN. She grew up and attended country school and graduated from Lamberton High School in 1953. She worked in Mankato as a secretary for about a year.

She married Ervin Friedley. The couple made their home and raised their children in Redwood Falls, MN and southern Minnesota. They then moved to Olivia, MN.

On June 11, 1965, Darlene was united in marriage to Ron Theodore Freyholtz at the Methodist Church in Olivia, MN. They moved to Fosston, MN, where they made their new home. They lived on the farm until 1973, when they purchased a farm near Red Lake Falls, MN, where they have since lived. In 1969, Darlene and Ron adopted their son Shane. Darlene was a school cook in Plummer, MN, from 1996 until the present.

Darlene was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church Council and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed watching sports, gardening on a large scale and crossword puzzles. Reading was her greatest hobby.

Survived by husband, Ron, Red Lake Falls, MN; children, Chuck (Karen) Friedley, Mentor, MN, Loree Friedley, Austin, TX, Donna (Ward) Arntson, Buffalo Grove, IL, Denise (Russ Carpenter) Konickson, Plummer, MN and Shane (Carmen) Freyholtz, Anchorage, AK; 12 grandchildren, Mike and Douglas Friedley, Lawrence and Leila Hoodye, Edward, Allison, Aaron and Martha Jo Arntson, Laura, Ashley and Matt Konickson and Grayson Freyholtz; 5 sisters, Doris (Leon) Carter, Windom, MN, Wilma Holck, Jeffers, MN, Peggy Matter, Woodburn, OR, Jeanette (Donald) Bast, Pennock, MN and Dudy (Dick) Moots, Troy, MT; a brother, Calvin (Doris), Jeffers, MN; sisters-in-law, Rhoda Barker, Atwater, MN and Audrey Barker, Montevideo, MN.

Preceded in death by parents; 4 brothers, Earl, Jim, Bill and Bud and a sister, Margaret Pohl.
