Obituary

Daryl Johnson, 58, died on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN with Reverend Nancy Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Folden Cemetery, Newfolden Township, Marshall County, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, October 20, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service on Friday evening and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Daryl Lynn Johnson was born on May 7, 1948 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Francis Hjalmar and Viola (Tuura) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt and attended Elementary school in Holt, graduating from Newfolden High School in 1966. Following High School he studied Auto Body at AVTI in Thief River Falls, for two years, graduating in 1968. He married Julie Magner. The couple lived in East Grand Forks and to this union Kari and Chad were born. Daryl entered the United States Army in 1968 and was Honorably Discharged in 1974.

Daryl lived in various places working in the auto body industry before returning to Middle River, Minnesota, where he purchased his grandparents farm.

Daryl was united in marriage to Susie Johnsrud on August 30, 2003 in Medora, ND. He worked for Dave Thompson on his farm and worked in the shop for Davidson Construction.

He loved spending time with his grandkids and enjoyed working with his horses. He was a Jack of All Trades who enjoyed helping others. He also liked working on buggies, loved to two step, and water ski.

Daryl was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, American Legion, North Country Horseman Saddle Club, Marshall County Sheriff Posse, and the Whoa and Go Club in Bemidji, MN

Daryl is survived by his wife, Susie of Middle River, MN; two children: Kari (Brian) Moyer of Thief River Falls, MN and Chad (Carla) Johnson of Rapid City, SD; seven grandchildren: Jessica, Amanda, Kayla, Krista, Sterling, Michaela and Gabrielle; his mother, Viola Johnson of Holt, MN; three brothers: David (Emily) of Middle River, MN, Steven (Colleen) of Boulder, CO and Arlyn (Asako) of Ginowan City, Okinawa, Japan; two sisters: Susan (Ronald) Helm of Newfolden, MN and Lisa (Stephen) Beuning of Erie, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Francis, and his father-in-law, Jack Johnsrud.
