Daryl Norberg, 82 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Banner Medical Center in Case Grande, AZ.

Daryl Vernon Norberg was born August 2, 1940 in Roseau, MN the son of Lester and Florence (Skog) Norberg.

Daryl was united in marriage to Patricia Kroening on October 28, 1961. Daryl was 21 and Pat was 18. They made their home in Crookston where Daryl worked at a Gas company and then went to school for Electronics. He then worked at Brent Music Center as a repairman. They moved to Minneapolis where their daughter Lynne was born September 11, 1963 and Julie March 8, 1965. In 1972 Daryl and his family moved to Thief River Falls where they took over Crestview Board and Care.

Daryl enjoyed working with his hands, mechanical work, carpentry, restoring old cars, cooking, Daryl was a very good cook and owned Norberg's 3rd Street Café. Daryl also enjoyed hunting when he was younger, fishing, dancing at the VFW, he loved to get a good bargain at a flea market and enjoyed working for his brother-in-law Curt Swanson in the fields.

Daryl had several pets including 2 monkeys they purchased in Florida. Bosco and BJ. His favorite pet was his dog Spotty.

In his younger years Daryl and his family traveled in their motorhome to every state except Alaska, and Maine. They had great times and memories of those trips. Daryl's favorite was the Florida Everglades for crabbing.

Daryl is survived by his daughter Julie Olson of Thief River Falls, 2 grandsons Nicholas and Thomas Olson both of Fargo ND, 5 great grandchildren Chloe, Hunter, Abby, Freya and Gabriel. Brother Palmer (Glenda) Norberg of Roseau, MN, sisters Pearl Pim of Tacoma, WA, Darlene (Dean) Stricklin of Owatonna, MN, Marilyn (Curt) Swanson of Thief River Falls, brother-in-law Doug (Joyce) Kroening of Minneapolis, MN, sister-in-law Joyce Norberg of Rhinelander, WI and several nieces and nephews.

Daryl is preceded in death by his wife Patricia, daughter Lynne, parents Lester and Florence (Skog) Norberg, brothers Vernon, Harvey, Dale, Lyle, and just recently Harley Norberg. Sisters Della (Oren) Torkelson, Cheri (Brad) Ford, several brothers and sisters-in-law and special friend Jo.

The Funeral Service to celebrate Daryl's life will be 10:30 AM Friday, June 9, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls with burial to follow at Spruce Cemetery in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
