Dave Latendresse, 98, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Sanford Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday July 26, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Chuck Huck officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service, Red Lake Falls, with a 7:15 PM prayer service and also for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. David "Dave" Russell Latendresse was born January 12, 1914 in Red Lake Falls, MN, the son of Majoric and Obeline (Grenier) Latendresse. Dave attended country school in Red Lake Falls. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. Dave was currently the oldest member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. In 1942 Dave was drafted into the United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Basic training was conducted at Paynefield, Washington, followed by deployment to Oahu, Hawaii. He worked as a radar operator for the first two years of his military service. Dave was then deployed to Saipan where he worked as a radar operator before his honorable discharge. When Dave arrived home in Red Lake Falls, he operated the family dairy farm. Later he sold the dairy herd and raised Hereford Beef cattle. When Dave retired, he continued to live on his beloved farm until his death. Dave is survived by his niece, Ann Marie (Rodney) Potrament of Lancaster, MN; nephew, Ben (Jan) Scheuring of Fargo, ND; special friend and caregiver, Ken Gervais of Thief River Falls, MN; several great-nieces and great-nephews and many good friends and neighbors. Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Leo Latendresse and sister, Vena Scheuring.
