David Bach, 65, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022 with his loving family at his side at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Timothy Lundeen officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday 5 – 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

David Allen Bach was born on July 20, 1956, son of Jens and Alfreda (Skadsem) Bach at Sioux Lookout, Ontario Canada while Jens was stationed there in the US Air Force, he was the third of six children. David was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN and was confirmed at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church of rural Thief River Falls. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in 1974.

David married Jeanie Vatsaas in 1976.

David married Julie Osowski in 1987, to this union a son, Travis David Bach was born.

In 2016 David married Mary (Kendall) Vareberg. Mary has been his love, his helper and right hand as well as a wonderful caregiver and friend.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. David was a friend to many and enemy to none. He lived an active life with many, many experiences and accomplishments, to include: racing mini sprint cars and snowmobiles, farming to include some unusual crops, Old Milwaukee Engineering, excellent and imaginative cook. While working at Arctic Research and development he was a mechanic, test driver, cook, and truck driver. He did over-the-road trucking for many years, ice road trucking, and he was a Harley enthusiast. David entertained many at the "Beer Shed" with stories and songs. David served on the Numedal Township board for many years.

David is survived by his loving (patient and long-suffering) wife Mary Bach; son Travis (Megan) Bach of Ardoch, ND; step-children Sara Vareberg of Park Rapids, MN, Scott (Susan) Brown of California, Shane (Amber) Vareberg of Red Lake Falls, MN, Stephanie (Murray Hjelle) Vareberg of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren Rayna, Emma, Leah, Madi, Molly, Mason, Morgan, Marley, Shelby, Ella, Nelly, Ely, Alyssa, Chloe, Shane Jr., Koby, Ellie, and Tessa; great-grandchildren Kyah, Viola, and Nyla; Siblings Rhonda Bach, Diane (Rick Tischman) Bach and many relatives.

David is preceded in death by his parents Jens and Alfreda Bach, siblings LaVonne Edith, Jens Kjald Jr., and Robin Faye Bach.
