David Hamlin, 54, of Breezy Point, MN, formerly of Thief River Falls, MN, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Centra Care Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Frank Ehling officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Crookston, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. David LeRoy Hamlin was born in Neptune, NJ on November 8, 1957, the son of Ralph Isadore Hamlin and Marion (Bircher) Hamlin. When David was four, his family moved to Minnesota. He attended school at Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, graduating in 1965. After high school David met and married Carlene Valure. To this union three children were born: David, Jason, and Justin. Together they raised their family in the Duluth area. Later David was united in marriage to Monica Olson. They made their home in the Pine River area. David owned and operated his own business, Dave's Flooring in Pine River. He also farmed on the side, which was where his heart was. David enjoyed spending time on his farm and in his riding stables where he would guide trail rides near his home. For the past 12 years, he has worked in the maintenance department at the Northern Lights Casino in Walker, MN. Of all his pastimes, David especially enjoyed hunting with his brothers, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved riding horses and fishing. David Hamlin is survived by his long term partner, Carrie Fairbanks of Breezy Point, MN; seven children: David (Jaclyn) Hamlin of Cloquet, MN, Jason Hamlin of Aurora, MN, Justin (Crystal) Hamlin of Gilbert, MN, Cory Mink of Pine River, MN, Westley Mink of Brainerd, MN, Heather Olson of Pine River, MN, Daryn Olson of Pine River MN: 12 grandchildren: Brady, Camryn, Zander, and Brynn Hamlin, Jessalyn and Alexander Hamlin, Michelle Mink, Julia, Sexton, Connor, and Bryce Mink, Austin Olson; brothers and sisters, Robert (Victoria) Hamlin of Council Bluffs, IA, Ralph Hamlin Jr. of Thief River Falls, MN, Patricia (Steven) Cooley of Watertown, SD, Susan Penn of Moorhead, MN, Richard Hamlin of Pine River, MN, Priscilla Hodgson of Moorhead, MN, James Hamlin of Phoenix, AZ, Lester (Stasia) Hamlin of Oklahoma City, OK, Jeanne (Brian) Wilde of Thief River Falls, MN, and Michael Hamlin of Thief River Falls, MN. David was preceded in death by his parents.
