David Kalbakdalen, 58, of Red Lake Falls, MN, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN, with his loving sisters by his side.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN, with Pastor Jeffrey Lytle officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday at Johnson Funeral Service.

David Lowell Kalbakdalen was born on February 14, 1964 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Lowell and Margaret "Margie" (French) Kalbakdalen.  Following the death of his parents, the young family was raised by their grandparents, Gladys and Melvin Kalbakdalen.

David attended school in Red Lake Falls, graduating from high school in 1983.  Following high school David attended Faribault Technical College where he received his Boilers License.  He then moved to the Twin Cities and lived with his brother Scott.  They loved all sports, Twins and Vikings, but their love for the Minnesota North Stars was where you would find them at every home game as they were season ticket holders.  David loved his job at Sinclair in Edina and one of his favorite memories was when he towed out Dino Ciccarelli during the blizzard of 1991.

He lived in Las Vegas for many years and recently moved back to Red Lake Falls, MN where he worked at Walmart in Thief River Falls.

He will be greatly missed by his sisters, Janelle Fischer, Lakeville, MN and Kim Rossmann, Eagan, MN, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Our grief at losing him is only diminished with the knowledge that he is finally at peace, home in heaven with his mother, father and brother he so desperately missed.  He was also preceded in death by his brother Scott, parents, Lowell and Margie, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was a beautiful, kind and gentle person, he will be missed.
