David Klein, 53, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, as a result of a seizure related incident.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor Pete Lee officiating. Lunch will be served after the service.  Interment will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.  Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

David Lyle Klein was born on October 19, 1968 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Laura Klein.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  David graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN, in 1987.  He attended Northland Community College for general studies and Computer Programming.  Again in 2013 David attended NCTC, receiving his certificate as a massage therapist, which he was able to practice on a part-time basis.

David worked several jobs throughout his life, including Arctic Cat, Oakland Park Nursing Home, Northern Pride, the Seven Clans Casino, Valley Home, School District 564, and was most recently employed by Digi-Key.

In 1996 a son, Steven Marshall Klein was born to David and Heather Wheat.  Although their relationship ended, they remained good friends.  David was very proud of the man Steven has become.

David married his high school sweetheart, Jill Lindholm on December 12, 1997.  Although their marriage was dissolved, they were good friends who supported each other.

On July 4, 2008 David married Melanie Smith and to this union was born a daughter, Elliana Marion-Esther Klein.  His daughter became the center of his life.

From his teen years he pursued his passion for music, performing weekends as a guitarist and vocalist in several bands.  Before his daughter was born, he stopped traveling weekends in order to be home with his new daughter.  He later concentrated on home studio music production with other musicians.

David is survived by his son, Steven Klein; daughter, Elliana Klein; parents, Clyde and Laura Moen of Thief River Falls, MN; siblings, Kelly Moen of Dodge Center, MN, Jason (Shannon) Moen of Oklee, MN, and Daren Moen of Thief River Falls, MN; and many other relatives and friends, and his kitty family, Bear and Ruthie.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Esther Klein; uncles Vern, Arlo and Carl Klein, Bruce Moen and Bjarne Kvasager; aunts Roberta Klein, Viola Kvasager and Jeanette Klein; very dear friends Bubs Dargon and Kelly Monsrud.
