David Lundeen, 66, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 17, 2010 at MeritCare Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Gary Graff officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls.
Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Friday, May 21, 2010 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, with a prayer service at 7 PM and for one hour prior to the service Saturday. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls.
David Wayne Lundeen was born May 3, 1944 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Floyd and Violet (Monson) Lundeen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended District # 52 country school in Deer Park Township, through the 8th grade. He graduated from Oklee High School in 1962 and attended college in St. Paul and Bemidji, MN. He graduated in 1968, with a Science Degree.
On January 23, 1965, David was united in marriage to Judy Nelson at Zion Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN. They lived in Bemidji while David attended college and worked at Nu-Ply Wood Factory in the lab. In 1968, they moved to Red Lake Falls, MN, where he started teaching chemistry and science at Lafayette High School. He taught there for 33 years and retired in 2001.
David was a member of the Red Lake Falls Education Association as President, Teachers Rights, negotiations and served many years on the Kramer Brown Board. He was very active in the DFL party, where he held many offices and also was a delegate to many state and district conventions. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 45 years, Judy, Red Lake Falls, MN; sons, Kevin, Minneapolis, MN and Kyle (Nicole), Plummer, MN; daughter, Kristi (Dan) Lutgen, White, SD; 3 very special grandkids, Josh, Shyanne and Ryder Lutgen, which were the apple of his eye; brothers, Arden (Judy) and Vincent (Gelene) Lundeen all of Oklee, MN; sisters, Crystal (Glenn) Bergerson, Gully, MN and Denise (Tim) Disrud, Fosston, MN; special friend and brother-in-law, for 52 years, Russell (Marilyn) Nelson; Lady, his very special dog and friend; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
David was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wanda Lundeen, Marcia Jenson and a sister in infancy and many aunts and uncles.
