David Nelson of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020 at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston.

A private family service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Thomas Puffe Officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery near Red Lake Falls, MN.

David Gerald Nelson was born on March 6, 1943 at Ada, MN son of Leonard and Judy (Jacobson) Nelson. He was raised in Fertile where he attended school graduating from High school in 1961. Dave attended Northland College in Thief River Falls and graduated in wood working.

He joined the Air National Guard and served for many years.

On March 14, 1964 he was united in marriage to Cecilia Marie Killian at Fertile, MN. To this union 2 children were born Anna Marie and Jeffrey. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls, MN where he worked at Detroiter Mobile Homes and Wilcox Furniture. In 1970 he started Town and Country Motors in Red Lake Falls until he semi-retired and moved to the North End of town and began D&S Sales. They also owned and operated Topnotch Drive Inn and Southside C-Store in Red Lake Falls, MN.

The couple purchased a cabin at Springsteel Island on Lake of the Woods where they enjoyed fishing and visiting with friends. He also enjoyed hunting, they enjoyed driving through the forest. He was instrumental in planning and installing the grass greens at Oak Knolls Golf Club.  He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a strong believer in Christ.

David is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Cecilia of Red Lake Falls, MN; son Jeffrey (Julie) Nelson of Red Wood Falls, MN; grandchildren Emma, Abby and Elijah Nelson, Kyle Kozel, Trevor Kozel, son-in-law Tom Kozel of East Grand Forks, MN; siblings Ray (Sylvia) Nelson of Fertile, MN, Connie (Vernon) Rasmussen of East Grand Forks, MN, Nancy Vaughn of Fargo, ND; along with several nieces and nephews, and In-laws.

He is Preceded in death by his daughter Anna Marie, parents Leonard and Judy Nelson, sister Sandra Nelson, brother Tom Nelson.
