David MGeorge Swanson, Jr., 67, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 11 AM in Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Burial will be at a later date.

On March 9, 1955, David Jr. was born to David and June (Hoff) Swanson in Grand Forks, ND.  He was baptized at Big Woods Lutheran Church and later confirmed in Virginia, MN.  He started school in Virginia, MN, and graduated in 1973 from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN.  After schooling, David entered the United States Navy, serving in nuclear submarines.  He was honorably discharged on  June 24, 1980.

David returned to Thief River Falls, MN, and later accepted a job working on nuclear submarines in California.  He worked with another company that made manuals for the government.  David returned to Thief River Falls, where he worked at Arctic Cat and retired from Digit Key in April 2018.  On December 21, 2013, David was united in marriage to Nenita Moreno at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN.  David loved Nenita with all his heart.

Fishing, trips to California to visit families, and hunting with family at their hunting shack near Middle River, was meaningful to David.  He was a very honest man with a dry sense of humor.

David is survived by his wife, Nenita, Thief River Falls, MN; son, John David Moreno; siblings: Keith (Cindy) Swanson, Thief River Falls; Kathy (Todd) Borgstron, Sun City West, AZ; and Dean Swanson, Thief River Falls; aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and good friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
