David John Thode of Moorhead, MN formerly of Red Lake Falls, MN- 56, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at his home in Moorhead, MN. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN with Pastor Gary Graff presiding. The family is inviting family and friends to join them for time of fellowship at Riverside Park after the service. David John Thode was born November 16, 1956 son of the late Henry Jr. and Clarice (LaCoursiere) Thode at Red Lake Falls, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. He attended Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls and also attended Northwest Technical College in Thief River Falls studying electronics. David loved to gopher trap with his dad and spending summers fishing the Clearwater River. He enjoyed camping in the Black Hills. His dad would take him for ride along in the patrol car, getting to know the streets of Red Lake Falls and stopping for ice cream. He worked at Detroiter Manufacturing in Red Lake Falls and as a carpenter's assistant for several years. David lived the past 23 years in Moorhead, MN. He was an avid reader - Barnes and Noble was his favorite book store. He enjoyed nature books, hunting, fishing and outdoor activities. His favorite time was spent on his weekly get together with friends over coffee and he perfected riding the city bus around Fargo. He was a member of the 4H and the Boy Scouts. David is survived by his siblings, Arlene (Wayne) Marcotte of Little Rock, AR, Joyce Matheny of Red Lake Falls, MN, and twin sister, Carol (Duane) Boucher of Brooks, MN; sister-in-law, Cyndi (Thode) Handyside of Crookston, MN; 6 nephews, 4 nieces and several great-nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger; brother-in-law, Marlin Matheny; grandparents, Henry Sr. and Etta (Holtz) Thode, Emil and Eleanor (Payment) LaCoursiere; nephew, Ronald Wayne Marcotte; as well as several uncles, aunts and cousins.
