Delaine Lynn Smith was born June 18, 1973 in Warroad, MN the daughter of Douglas LeRoy and Barbara Jean (Ravndalen) Smith. She was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church in Roosevelt, MN. Delaine attended kindergarten through 12 th grade in Warroad, graduating with the class of 1991. While in school, she was a cheerleader, active in FHA, volunteered at the Warroad Care Center, worked as a waitress at The Patch Restaurant and was a cashier at Johnson's Shop & Go.

Following high school, Delaine moved to Thief River Falls and attended Northwest Technical College where she graduated with an Associate Degree as a Medical Secretary. During these college years, she worked at K-Mart and after graduation went to work at Planned Parenthood.

On a casual trip to the Pennington County Fair in the summer of 1992, Delaine met her future husband, Paul Rasmussen. The couple were united in marriage on September 4, 1993, at Mt Carmel Lutheran Church in Roosevelt, MN.  Delaine and Paul lived in Thief River Falls and are the proud parents of two sons: Brett Douglas (1994) and Lance Daniel (1998).

In the mid-1990's, Delaine worked for Dean Foods, then Midwest Vision.  From 1999 to 2017, she worked at Pennington County Social Service, where she spent most of her career as a financial worker. In June 2017, Delaine began work at Digi-Key where she started out as a Sales Representative and after a few months became an Expeditor; a job which she enjoyed very much.

Delaine enjoyed fishing on Lake of the Woods, Friday nights out with her girlfriends, playing bingo, date nights with Paul, traveling with Paul, Brett, and Lance, and she loved following her son's sporting events. Delaine was a gentle soul, kind, sweet, compassionate, generous, loving, and thoughtful. She was loved by everybody, and everybody loved her. Delaine loved her family more than anything and especially enjoyed family holiday gatherings. She will be dearly missed!
