Delbert Erickson, 82, died Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Delbert Erickson was born June 16, 1922, in Big Woods Township, Marshall County, MN, the twin of Doris and the son of Elling Erickson and Sophie (Melo) Erickson. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian Faith. He grew up and attended country school. Following school, he stayed home to work on the family farm.

On May 25, Delbert was united in marriage to Laura Larson at Poplar Grove Lutheran Church, Strathcona, MN. The couple lived in Greenbush, MN until 1968, when they moved into Thief River Falls, MN. While living in Greenbush, Delbert worked at Coast to Coast, Co-op and helped his brother, Eldor at Texaco. He also worked as a janitor at Greenbush Public School. He worked as a janitor at the Aviation School located at the Thief River Falls Airport, where he worked until the 1980s.

Delbert was a member of Evangelical Free Church, Thief River Falls, where he organized the mens prayer breakfast and was active in Berean Fellowship. He enjoyed auction sales, buying things, fixing them up and then selling them. He liked having coffee at various places in Thief River Falls and enjoyed their visiting with their many friends. Every Thursday night, Delbert and Laura ate out. They enjoyed spending time with children and grandchildren, working puzzles and word find. Music was a big part of Delberts life, the family had their own band called the Ericksons Stringband. He played the guitar, Hawaiian guitar and mandolin.

Survived by wife, Laura, Thief River Falls, MN; daughter, Debra (Dennis) Piche, Red Lake Falls, MN; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Knutson, Red Lake Falls, MN, Tiffany (special friend, Michael Sheppard) Knutson, Grand Forks, ND, Kristen (Jesse) Slover, Red lake Falls, MN and Lisa Piche, Moorhead, MN; 4 great grandchildren, Alex and Tony Knutson, Kaitlin Knutson and Mikayla Sheppard; brothers and sisters, Clarence (Gladys) Erickson, Thief River Falls, MN, Doris Hamness, Rosemont, MN and Roynell (Gloria) Erickson, Roseau, MN; sister-in-law, Helen Larson, Fargo, ND; special nephew, Dennis Erickson and family; special niece and nephew Diane and Mike Erickson, many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by parents; brother and sisters, Alice, McMahon, Eldor Erickson, Inez Gjovik, Bernice Carlson, Gladys Gjovik, Evelyn Hamness and a sister, Bernice who died at a young age.
