Della Rockstad, 94, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, May 19, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held 5-7 on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Monday.

Della Minda Scramstad was born on October 22, 1913 in Tuffnell, Saskatchewan, Canada to Duffy and Minnie (Johnson) Scramstad. As a child she moved to the USA and she grew up in Thief River Falls, MN. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. She attended Knox Elementary School and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.

Della was united in marriage to George B. Rockstad in January 25, 1934 at Minneapolis, MN. During World War II they lived in Chicago, IL. They then settled in Thief River Falls, MN. She worked as a clerk at JC Penneys for many years. She then worked at Purdys Shoe Store for a few years. She then retired from Stordahl Trucking in Thief River Falls as a bookkeeper. She has resided at Thief River Care since August of 2003.

Della enjoyed the ladies aid and circle at Zion Church. She loved to entertain and host get-togethers. She enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a good seamstress who sewed her daughters clothing when they were young. She collected antiques and clowns. Della and her daughter Audrey Sissy went to many flea markets and rummage sales. She belonged to the Red Hat Society. She spent hours putting together puzzles and playing bingo. She had a sharp mind whose body just wore out.

Della is survived by one daughter Gayle (Virgil) Skaaden, Bismarck, ND, five grandchildren, Mike (Leslie) Riepl, Bismarck, ND, Jeff (Veronica) Riepl, Hazen, ND, Pat (Kim) Riepl, Baldwin, ND, Heidi Bennett, Aptose, CA, Wendy (Zachary) McAbbe, Fox River Grove, IL, 2 step grandchildren, Terri (Michael) Malpezzi, Bonsall, CA, Jana (Lou) Corbin, Culver City, CA, , 11 great grandchildren, Ben (Jessica) Riepl, Grand Forks, ND, Peter (Chelsey) Riepl, Bismarck, ND, Amber (Brandon) Erhardt, (great great grandchild Cadence)Wahpeton, ND, Mitchell (Sara) Riepl (great great grandchildren Becky & Emily), Lincoln, ND, Nicole Riepl, Baldwin, ND, Josh Riepl, Baldwin, ND, Rachel Riepl and Randy Riepl, Hazen, ND, Alexander McAbee, Fox River Grove, IL, Jameson Malpezzi, Katie Malpezzi, Bonsall, CA, Taylor Corbin, Culver City, CA, one brother Owen Scramstad, Thief River Falls, MN, and two nephews David (special adopted daughter Pat) Scramstad, Thief River Falls, MN, Richard Scramstad, Los Cruces, NM, and several great nieces and nephews.

Della was preceded in death by her husband George in 1975, one daughter Audrey Sissy Bennett, parents, two brothers, one grandson Rex Bennett, son-in-law, James R. Riepl and one sister-in-law, Madeleine Scramstad.
