Deloris Anderson of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away at the Thief River Care Center on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at the age of 93.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. John Golv officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.
A visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
DeLoris Anderson was born in Newfolden, MN on April 19, 1926. She was the youngest daughter of Tonnes and Ida Nelson.
DeLoris graduated from Marshall County High School in 1944. She attended the Gale Institute in Minneapolis, MN and earned her license to work in an air control tower. She also attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND.
After finishing business school DeLoris moved to Denver, CO and worked for Denver Digital, Continental Airlines, Bowman Biscuits (now known as Keebler), Denver - Chicago trucking and Pacific Intermountain express.
On April 24, 1954 DeLoris married K. Russel Anderson, a local architect. They were married 9 years before having their first and only child, Michael on May 6, 1963.
In Thief River Falls, Deloris was employed by Northern Wood Work, Gamble Robinson, State Farm Insurance and Western Union and she worked with her husband as office manager of K. Russell Anderson Architect.
DeLoris enjoyed taking college courses at Northland Community College such as golf, bridge, art, CPR and the real estate course.
Over the years DeLoris belonged to many clubs and organizations namely Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Thief River Golf Club, Business & Professional Women, Zion Lutheran Church, Heritage Center, Youngs Bakery Bowling Team and several bridge clubs.
DeLoris enjoyed many things, traveling, reading, bowling, dancing, bicycling, golfing, skating, playing cards, bingo, swimming, sewing, painting and hunting with her husband and son.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her son, daughter-in-law and grandson in North Carolina and spending time with her special friend Bob Rugland going out for dinner, dancing and attending every activity available for seniors in the area.
DeLoris is survived by her son Michael, his wife Diane and only grandson Kenneth of Charlotte, NC, her special friend and longtime companion Robert Rugland of Thief River Falls. She is also survived by three nephews David & Stephen Murphy, Mark Peterson and 2 nieces, Peggy Hanson and Karen Murphy.
DeLoris was preceded in death by her husband K. Russell, parents and one brother and three sisters.
