DelRay Westman, 63 of Thief River Falls, MN died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his home.

A gathering time for family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM until Noon on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will follow at Bethania Cemetery in Marsh Grove Township, Marshall County, MN.

DelRay Lynn Westman was born January 16, 1953 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Clarence and Bernice (Dahl) Westman. He was baptized at Bethania Lutheran Church in rural Newfolden, MN and confirmed on May 18, 1969 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden.

DelRay attended school in Newfolden and graduated with the class of 1971.

In his earlier years, DelRay farmed with his father in New Maine Township, Marshall County, MN. Other jobs that DelRay had in his life included hauling turkeys for the turkey plant, bar tending, driving school bus for Dietrich Bus Company, Custom Woods, worked for various farmers, and also worked at Arctic Cat.

On August 8, 2009, DelRay was united in marriage to Kristi Phillips at New Hope Lutheran Church in Newfolden. The couple made their home in rural Thief River Falls.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baking, spending time with family and grandchildren; and especially enjoyed time with his cousin Eldor Westman.

DelRay was stubborn, funny, outgoing, jokster, boisterous, caring, loving and was a great man!

Survivors include his wife, Kristi of Thief River Falls; children, Tracy Westman of Bird Island, MN, Jeremy Westman of Thief River Falls, Jessica (Chris) Thompson of Fargo, ND, Micheal Powell of Wisconsin, Melissa (Derrick) Kuznia of Stephen, MN, JoAnn (Travis) Foss of Thief River Falls and Raymond Powell of Thief River Falls; grandchildren, Micheal Last-Hoade, Abby, Brady and Jesse Kuznia, Tavia and Jace Foss and Tatum Powell; sister, Janice McCullough of Eagan, MN, Byron (Connie) Westman of Wadena, MN and Lyle (Valerie) Westman of Argyle, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Kia Powell.
