Dennis Ray Green of Clarkston passed away on July 5 ^th , 2021 at age 79, with his family at his side.  Dennis was born October 3, 1941 in Thief River Falls, MN to parents, Deforest S. Green and Maybelle (Rife) Green, joining one brother, Dalen.  His family remained in Thief River Falls and Dennis graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959.  He then continued to pursue a drafting/engineering education at UND while working at Forsberg's in Thief River Falls, and in 1965 began his 23 year career at Arctic Cat.  In 1982 when Arctic Cat closed for restructuring, Dennis accepted a position with Troy Design in Michigan and continued working for the automotive industry until retirement.  His marriage to Marva Jane Lawrence of Thief River Falls in 1960, gave Dennis his 4 children, Debra Rae Walker (husband Tim); Douglas Alan (deceased 1982); Melinda Jane Preuninger (husband Don); and Merideth Denise Griffin (husband Joe).

An avid outdoorsman, Dennis lived & enjoyed a very active lifestyle … hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, water & snow skiing, camping, riding bike, golfing and he played in a men's softball league for many years.  Dennis' gift to engage in conversation and find commonality with people he met brought a collection of special and enduring friendships.  Over the last 25+ years, he found true joy in time spent fishing and connecting with people at his beloved "fish camp" at Lighthouse Park in Port Hope, Michigan, where he is affectionately referred to as "the mayor".  Dennis always had a positive attitude, an offer of assistance to neighbors, encouraging words, and a great sense of humor.

Family was very important to Dennis and he shared vacations, holidays and time with them in his post-retirement years.  In addition to his 3 daughters, Dennis is survived by 7 grandchildren; Anjela (Rick) Bohrman, Melissa (Bud) Hanson, and Shayla (Joel) Koenigsmark, Blake and Andrew Piper, Shane and Abigail Griffin; a very special sister-in-law Anne Green, nephew Derek (Katherine) Green, and niece Susan (Darcy) Manion, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, great nieces, nephews and special friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Deforest and Maybelle, son Douglas and brother Dalen.

His three daughters accepted the role of loving caregivers of Dennis throughout his 6 year battle with cancer and will host celebrations of Dennis in the communities he held deep connections with. Dennis' final resting place will be in Park Ridge Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.  Bring your stories to share, lunch & beverages will be served.

September 30 ^th (Thursday), 2021; 1pm Graveside at Park Ridge Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Darrel Cory officiating and 2-4pm family/friends gathering at The Black Cat in Thief River Falls, MN.

Dennis was always lending a hand and helping his neighbors, so we request in lieu of flowers that you reach out and help a neighbor in need to honor Dennis.
