Obituary

Diana M. Vigstol passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Gary Graff Officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at Emardville Cemetery, Plummer, MN.

Visitation will be held Thursday, 5 – 8 PM with a 6:00 PM prayer service at Bethany Lutheran Church and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Diana Marie Vigstol was born March 1, 1942 at Thief River Falls, MN daughter of Julian Hanford and Minnie (Rode) Bjerke. Raised on a farm near Thief River Falls, MN attended Lincoln High School graduating in 1959. Following her education she moved to Minneapolis where she worked for 3 years, moved back to Thief River Falls in 1962 and worked various places in the area.

On March 10, 1963 she was united in marriage to John Eldon Vigstol at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. The couple resided in the Plummer, and Thief River Falls area. To this union 4 children were born Rodney, Suzanne, Roxanne and Jeffrey.

Diana moved to Thief River Falls where she worked as a waitress, retail sales and bookkeeper. In 1985 she moved to Wichita, KS and worked at Boeing Airplane Company. Moved back to Minneapolis in 1993 and attended White Bear Lake College receiving a degree in Business/Secretary. She worked at the George C. Brandt Company. In 1997 Diana moved back to Thief River Falls where she was employed at Digi Key until her retirement in 2007 and has since resided in Red Lake Falls, MN.

She enjoyed gardening, flower gardening, crafting, enjoyed cooking, an accomplished baker, refinished furniture, building things, her yard and her children were her most important accomplishments. She also loved to decorate her home, spending time outside was very important to her.

Diana was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, she was active in the WELCA (Women of Bethany), vacation bible school, serving on the church council, and volunteered where ever they needed help.

Diana is survived by her sons Rodney (Kelly) Vigstol of Zimmerman, MN, Jeffrey (Lori) Vigstol of Red Lake Falls, MN, grandchildren Sarah and Samantha Vigstol, Amber, Nicholas and Halle Vigstol; siblings Don Bjerke of Forrest Lake, MN, and Darla (Rick) Taddy of Reedsville, WI, sister-in-law Arlene Bjerke of Thief River Falls, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her daughters Suzanne and Roxanne; parents, and brother Duane Bjerke.
