Diane Jury, 69, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Minnesota Greenleaf in Thief River Falls, MN following a long battle with dementia, surrounded by her loving family.
A gathering time for family and friends will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. The service to celebrate Diane's life will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor Eric Miller officiating.
Diane Marie Hanson was born May 3, 1952 in Virginia, MN the daughter of Norman and MaDonna (Lundeen) Hanson. She was baptized at Oak Park Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN and confirmed at Glenwood Lutheran Church in Glenwood, MN. Diane graduated from Glenwood High School with the class of 1970.
In 1971, Diane was married to Arne Rantanen from Middle River, MN. To this union two children were born, Melissa and Arne Jr. They made their home in the Thief River Falls area.
Over the years she worked at various places including Johnnies Café, Arctic Cat, and the Elk's Club. In the fall of 1986, Diane married Michael Jury and the family moved to Warroad, MN. In May of 1987, the family welcomed a daughter, Ashley. Diane worked at Marvin Windows until the family returned to Thief River Falls in 2000. She went to work at Digi-Key until her retirement in 2017.
Throughout her life, Diane was a very hard worker. She was a natural caregiver and nurturer caring for many family members including her children, mom, dad, and brother. Diane enjoyed her cats, crocheting, fishing, reading, gardening, cooking (she was famous for her stuffing & potato salad), playing video games, and was very competitive with her family playing croquet, whiffle ball and other games. She was a Minnesota Twins fan through and through. Diane dearly loved her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Jury; children, Missy (Gayland Jensen) Hodgson, Arne (Randi) Rantanen and Ashley (Sean) Ranum all of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Megan & Sydney Hodgson, Treyton Stomberg & Jax Rantanen, Owen, Noah & Leni Ranum; siblings, Roger (Linda) Hanson, Vanessa (Steve) Appel; nephew, Joe Appel; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Barry; granddaughter, Karli Hodgson; and nephew, Matthew Appel.
