Dolores Benitt, 85, died on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Holt, MN with Pastor Sheila Michaels officiating. Burial will follow in the Holt Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Wednesday.

Dolores Vivian Larson was born on March 18, 1925 to Ole and Matilda (Furr) Larson at her home near Mud Lake, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended the Pleasant View School, Sunny Side School, Holt School, and graduated from Crookston Ag School. As a young woman, she started working as a nurses aid in Thief River Falls. She continued working at the hospital in Thief River Falls until 1970.

She was united in marriage to Rueben John Benitt on June 9, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. They made their home north of Holt and lived there until October of 2009 when they moved into Thief River Greenleaf Assisted Living.

Dolores was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent, and was active with the Ladies Aid. She also enjoyed being a part of the Homemakers Club. She liked to sew and quilt and made quilts for all of her grandchildren. She also liked to bake and no one ever left Dolores house hungry. She enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. Dolores and Rueben loved to go dancing. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and every moment she got to spend with them.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Rueben, Thief River Falls, MN, 2 children: Roger (Karen) Benitt, Holt, MN, Becky Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN, 8 grandchildren: Kent(Lori) Benitt, Warren, MN, John (Farrah) Benitt, Holt, MN, Trevor (Tamara) Benitt, Warren, MN, Jennifer (Eric) Welin, Argyle, MN, Teresa (Jonathan) Hopke, New Prague, MN, Amy (Milt) Green, Lakeville, MN, Katrina (Lance) Hapka, Argyle, MN, Kristina (Nicholas) DeFrang, Thief River Falls, MN, 11 great grandchildren: Jocelynn & Carsten Benitt, Darby & Brynn Benitt, Wyatt Welin, Kyan & Brexten Hopke, Treyson, Damon, & Briel Green, Kylee DeFrang, brother Donald Larson, Holt, MN, 3 sisters in law: Carol & Aileen Benitt, Holt, MN, JoAnn Larson, Thief River Falls, MN, her cousin who she always thought of as a sister Dorothy Buck, Thief River Falls, MN, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Tabitha Nelson, great grandson Daylon Green, great granddaughter Whitney Welin, and brothers, Clifford, Martin, and Lloyd Larson.
