Donald LeRoy Davis, 71, died peacefully Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND with his family by his side.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with Pastor Wally Danielson officiating.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday, December 18, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with a prayer service at 6:00 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
Donald Davis was born on September 16, 1938 on the family farm in Mentor, MN to Clarence Ray and Velva (Roberts) Davis. He was baptized in Maple Lake through Bethel Bible Church and graduated from high school in Mentor, MN.
In 1956 Donald proudly joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Corpus Christi, TX. It was there where he met and married his wife, Betty (Mark) Davis on October 31, 1958. Together they moved to Alameda, CA where he was stationed until he was honorably discharged in December of 1960. After his time in the service, Donald and Betty were blessed with six children and they made their home in Mentor, MN, Houston, TX, Mayville, ND and Red Lake Falls, MN.
Until his retirement in 2001, Donald worked as a diesel truck mechanic and a truck driver which he enjoyed very much.
Donald was a wonderful and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in the garden. He was known for his great sense of humor.
Donald is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Danny Mark of Indiana, Jean Mark of Red Lake Falls, MN, Donald Jr. (Noni) of Texas, Cindy Gee and special friend Earl Hillard of Lakota, ND, Mark (Pam) Davis of Tell City, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; Sister, Janice (Gary) Bouffler of Mentor, MN; Brother, Charles (Kathy) Davis of Mille Lac, MN and numerous sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his children, Sandra Kay and Earl Ray; parents, Clarence and Velva Davis; grandparents, Ray and Leona Davis; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Boone and Frances Mark and brothers-in-law, John Mark and Norman Mark.
