Obituary

Donald Hanna, 73, of Thief River Falls, formerly of Oklee, MN, East Grand Forks, MN, and Seattle, WA, died on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN with Rev. Robert Paulson officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Cemetery, Oklee, MN.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service.

Donald Earl Hanna was born on December 28, 1935 in Grand Forks, ND to John Franklin and Violet Marie (Baldwin) Hanna. He grew up and attended school through the 8th grade. Don didnt like school much and would anything in his power to avoid it. In his early years, he worked setting pins at bowling alleys and doing yard work for people.

Don was in the Army for a short time, but that wasnt to his liking either. He wandered around the United States for many years and lived in several states including Washington, Kansas, California, Minnesota, and North Dakota. He lived in Oklee, MN in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Most recently he has lived near his sister Judy Hendrum in East Grand Forks, MN. His sister affectionately called him Donald Duck.

Don was an avid reader. He also enjoyed watching television and his favorite show was Murder, She Wrote. In the years that he lived in Oklee, he liked to fish in the pits with a few cold beers by his side. He loved classic country music. For the past few years he held membership in the VFW and American Legion in East Grand Forks.

Don is survived by two sisters: Judy Hendrum of East Grand Forks, MN, and Marge and husband Ron Smith of Woodinville, WA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: John, Chuck, Louis, and Tom, and 3 sisters: Genevieve, Donalda, and Evangeline.
