Donald Henry Knott was born September 19, 1927 at home in rural Red Lake Falls the son of Harvey and Lillie (Gale) Knott. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Marys Catholic Church and attended country school through the 8th grade. Donald served his country in the United States Army. Following his Honorable Discharge in 1947, he worked at a local creamery. His next venture was at Steinert Mill in Red Lake Falls until it closed. He then worked for Central Bi Products.

On June 28, 1950, Donald was united in marriage to Clarice Ann Schmitz at St. Marys Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls, MN. The couple lived in several locations in and around Red Lake Falls and in 1964, they purchased a farm in Browns Creek Township in Red Lake County. Through the years, along with raising 10 children, they also farmed small grains and milked dairy cattle. After retiring from farming, Donald went to work for the Sanitary Service as a Garbologist. He retired as a Master Garbologist at the age of 73.

Donald was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed deer hunting, camping, fishing and gardening. He especially liked spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his 10 children, Geri (Richard) Lambert, Red Lake Falls, Douglas (Kathie) Knott, Red Lake Falls, Susan (Don) Shnyder, Red Lake Falls, Greg (Sandy) Knott, Red Lake Falls, Julie (Jon) Peterson, Thief River Falls, Mary (Les) Arlt, Red Lake Falls, Laurie (Dave) DeHaan, Red Lake Falls, Pam (Kerry Erickson) Knott, Red Lake Falls, Rebecca (Kevin) Borreson, Red Lake Falls and Jason (Jannelle) Knott, Red Lake Falls; grandchildren, Derek (Jean), Kristin (Curtis), Mark, Stephanie (Mike), Todd (Angie), Kurt (Jodi), Kimberly (Matt), Mindy (Brett), Nikki (Jerry), Jennifer (Nick), Rachel (Aaron), Carmen, Lisa, Maggie, Jeremy (Rachel), Aaron (Kacie), Dustin (Ashley), Benjamin (Patti), Angela, Dakota, Phoenix, Kayler, Tristan, Lynn, Kendra, Kevin Jr., Brooke, Hollie; 9 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Courtney, Emily, Anna, Blake, Kumari, Clarice, Joshua W., Elsie, Lucas, and Joshua C.; sister, Gladys (John) Haupt, Eveleth, MN, Eva Lundquist, East Grand Forks, MN and Shirley (Darrel) Swenson, Red Lake Falls, MN; brothers, Gordon Knott, Red Lake Falls, MN and Orville (Gen) Knott, Red Lake Falls, MN; sister-in-law, Loretta Knott, Red Lake Falls, MN.

Donald is preceded in death by wife, Clarice on May 8, 2004, infant daughter, Ann in 1963, parents, Harvey and Lillie, brother, LaVern Knott, sister-in-law, Marie Knott, brother-in-law, Tom Lundquist.

Donald Knott died Friday, May 12, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls, MN at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 23 days. May his memory be blessed.
