Donald Raymond Steinhauer passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN with Sandra by his side.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 2:00 PM at New Hope Church in Newfolden, MN with Ollie Urdahl Officiating. Burial will be at Bethania Church Cemetery West of Newfolden.

Visitation will be on Sunday 3 – 5 PM with a Prayer service at 5:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN and also one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Donald Raymond Steinhauer was born in Excel Township on December 17, 1928 son of William and Ida Josephine (Lunke) Steinhauer. He attended Manor School and one year at Holt School. In his sophomore year he started at the Northwest Ag School in Crookston and graduated in 1947.  He then helped farm. He went to two weeks of Auctioneering School in Iowa and was an Auctioneer in the area for many years.

On December 31, 1981 he was united in marriage to Sandra Joy Brekkestran at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. They lived and farmed on the Steinhauer family farm. He had a passion for Belgian horses and raised many, many foals over the years. There are still a few on the farm! He made several sets of nylon webbing harnesses and many halters and also made one of the original foaling alarms. He also repaired halters for many. Many good friends were made because of the horses.

Don was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Newfolden.

Donald is survived by his wife Sandra; his brother Clifford. He is also survived by 5 nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, sister Evelyn (Marvin 1988) Johnson on November 12, 2020; sister-in-law, Marjorie Steinhauer on October 21, 2016; nephew Joe Steinhauer on August 23, 1961;  and nephew-in-law Merlyn Alme on April 13, 2021.
