Donald Thune, 84 of Twin Valley, MN formerly of St Hilaire, MN passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley, MN with his loving family by his side.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday,  October 27, 2018 at Our Saviour's Church in Thief River Falls, MN   with Reverend Alex Amiot Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Pauli Cemetery rural Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Donald Lloyd Thune was born January 5, 1934 at Thief River Falls, MN son of Emil and Gertrude (Kvall) Thune.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauli Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls. Don attended country school and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN.

Don entered the US Army and served his country, spending sixteen months in Korea.

On May 23, 1979 he was united in marriage to LaVonne Kaushagen. Don enjoyed working on cars and selling them which he did for forty years. He was always helpful to people. Don had a love for animals and he and LaVonne raised many miniature horses. His dogs were precious to him. He liked the sport of hockey and played it as a young man.

Donald is survived by his brother Glen (Beverly) Thune of Twin Valley, MN; step-children Judy (Richard) Olson of Brooks MN, Luther (Larae) Kaushagen of Thief River Falls, MN, Daniel Kaushagen of Anchorage, AK, Mary Jane (Roger) Paradis of Mentor, MN, Mark (Cynthia) Kaushagen of Thief River Falls, MN, Joy Kaushagen of Grand Forks, ND and Kyle (Evie) Kaushagen of Thief River Falls, MN;17 step-grandchildren and 26 step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Arlene A. Thune and Alice Thune of Thief River Falls, MN; many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife LaVonne,  parents; brothers, Palmer and Shirley Thune, Ernie Thune, Arlene Thune and Norris Thune.
