Obituary

Donald Treitline, 78 of St. Hilaire, MN, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at his residence.

A Gathering Time for Family & Friends will be from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM with a 5:00 PM Prayer Service on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Steve Dahlen officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Ecklund-Holmstrom American Legion Post #117, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2793 and Minnesota Navy National Guard Honor Guard. Burial will be in the spring at St. Hilaire Community Cemetery.

Donald Kenneth Treitline was born May 28, 1942 at Zion, IL, the son of Kenneth Wilbur and Anna Ella (DeLaBarre) Treitline.  He was baptized at Zion Methodist Church, Zion, IL and confirmed at the Methodist Church at Franksville, WI.  He attended grade school in Caledonia, WI, high school at New Leipzig, ND and was a graduate of Mott High school, Mott, ND in 1960.

He served his country in the United States Navy from May 1960 until his Honorable Discharge in May of 1963.  He achieved the rank of RD-2 (E-5).

On September 26, 1964, Donald was united in marriage to Evelyn Stella Marthaller at Mott, ND.  To this union 3 children were born: Kris Ann, Ann Marie and Kenneth C. Treitline.

Donald was employed as a trucker.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards.  He held membership with the VFW Post #2793 and American Legion Post #0117 both Thief River Falls, also was a member of the Military Order of Cooties, Pup Tent #42, Thief River Falls.

He is survived by wife, Evelyn, St. Hilaire, MN; daughters: Kris Ann (David) Salo, Sturgeon Bay, WI and Ann Marie (Randy) Homme, Thief River Falls, MN; 4 grandchildren: Shane Homme, Angie Homme, Lucas (Steph) Salo and Karlee (Josh) Bertrand; great-grandchildren, Allyssa, Kadence, Colton, Zayda, Emelyn, Parker, Kenly, Lynleigh; sister, Arlyce Moody; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by a son Kenneth, parents Kenneth and Anna Treitline; grandparents Charles and Martha DeLaBarre and William and Anna Treitline; brothers, William, Jerome and Kenneth Treitline; and best friend Sammy the cat.
