Donna J. Halverson Thief River Falls, MN formerly of Middle River, MN age 77, passed away December 3, 2013 at home under the loving care of her husband, Paul. A visitation to celebrate the life of Donna J. Halverson will be held from 10:00 AM until Noon with a service led by Rev. Robert Dahlen to be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Donna J. Nelson was born June 2, 1936 near Middle River to Leonard and Mabel (Curtiss) Nelson. She grew to adulthood in the Middle River area and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Middle River. Donna graduated from Middle River High School and was united in marriage to Edgar B. Halverson on December 23, 1953. They and their 3 children moved to many places the next 20 years while Edgar served in the Army. They moved back to this area in 1975 and made their home outside Middle River in 1976. Edgar passed away in October of 1992. Donna was united in marriage to Paul B. Halverson in 1997 and they enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends as they continued to live in the Thief River Falls area. Donna loved her family very much. She was very sociable, loved to laugh and make others happy. She believed that "There are no strangers, just friends you haven't met." Donna worked at Northland Foods for 17 years, Digi-Key Corporation, Pamida and Hugo's until retiring. She is a life member of the IWVA (International War Veterans Association) and the VFW Auxiliary along with the Eagles and American Legion. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Paul B. Halverson from Thief River Falls and her 3 children: Michael (Rosana) from Madison, WI; Marc (Susan) from Thief River Falls and LeAnn (David) Cruse in Middle River along with 5 grandchildren, Sarah Halverson, Ryan Halverson, David Halverson, Jennifer Osvold, and Brian Cruse; 9 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Donna's family would like to thank hospice along with the many family and dear friends for their support, prayers, visits, calls, letters, food, and gifts. We are deeply grateful to Paul for all of the special care he gave to our Mom. There will be no funeral service at Donna's request. Her remains will be given to the University of North Dakota.
