Donna Horachek, 83, of Goodridge, MN passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls with her loving family by her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 15, 2018 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Goodridge, MN with Father Adam Hamness presiding.  Burial will follow at Czech National/Bohemian Cemetery in Star Township, Pennington County, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to funeral at church.

Donna May Horachek was born October 12, 1934 in Grand Forks, ND the daughter of David and Madonna (Terrian) Lee.  She attended schools in Grand Forks, ND and Thief River Falls, MN graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1953.

On November 7, 1953 Donna was united in marriage to George Horachek at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN.  They settled on a farm in Highlanding Township, Pennington County, MN and to this union 9 children were born, Ronald, Katherine, Beverley, Gregory, Douglas, Vincent, John, Valarie and an infant son.

Donna was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, was great at putting up preserves, baking bread, canning, crafts, needlework, every winter there was a puzzle on the card table in the living room.  She loved playing cards with her family and friends, and was active with the kids in Highlanding 4-H and Lion's Club.  Donna always had a good sense of humor and was always thinking of others.  She spent many years being a mother raising not only her children but as the oldest of 9 brothers and sisters helped raise them as well.

Donna's true passion was her love for the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Goodridge. She was baptized and confirmed into the catholic religion prior to her marriage to George.  She was honored for 60 years of service to the St. Ann's Ladies Aide.  She was very proud to take care of the purificators, enjoyed bringing flowers to church, and served as Eucharistic minister & reader for many years.

She is survived by five children, Katherine Siverling of Stevens Point, WI, Beverley Horachek of Minneapolis, MN, Douglas (Heidi) Horachek of Goodridge, MN, John (Dave Stortz) Horachek of Madison, WI and Valarie (Jesse) Newton of Warren, MN; many grandchildren & great-grandchildren; siblings, Emery (Francesca) Lee and Beatrice Smith both of Thief River Falls; sister-in-law, Eleanor Horachek of Goodridge, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George in 1978; children, Ronald in 1999, Gregory in 2005, Vincent in 2017 and an infant son; parents; and six siblings, David, Jeanette, Roy, Sharon, Carol and Darlene.
