Donna Hunt Thief River Falls, age 91 died Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND surrounded by her loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 4, 2015 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls.
Donna Lou Loretta Kriel was born on August 1, 1924 in Red Lake Falls, MN the daughter of Albert and Georgiana (Marsonette) Kriel. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. Donna attended St. Bernard Catholic School in Thief River Falls, MN through the eighth grade and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1942.
On May 8, 1944, Donna was united in marriage to Ralph Hunt at Camp Atterbury, IN. Ralph went on to serve in the United States Army and Donna went to live with her sister, LaVonne in Austin, MN. Following Ralph's Honorable Discharge on August 14, 1945, the couple moved to Madison, WI where Ralph attended school and Donna worked in a bank. In 1946 a daughter, Susan was born and in 1948 a son, John was born. Ralph graduated in 1949 with a degree in Economics and Psychology.
The family moved to Newport, MN and Austin, MN where they lived for a short time. In 1952 a son, Ralph Jr. "Tom" was born, 1953 a son, Don was born which was the same year the family moved to Thief River Falls. In 1956 a son, Jeffrey was born, in 1958 a daughter, Jennifer was born and in 1961 a daughter, Cherie was born and completed the family. Donna enjoyed her time at home raising their family and after the kids were old enough, Donna went out to work at Bjorkman's Clothing for several years and later at Tischart's Fabrics.
In 1981, Donna and Ralph moved to Austin, MN for Ralph's work where they lived until 1984 when they retired to Zipple Bay. In 1994, the couple returned to Thief River Falls where they have continued to live. Donna enjoyed camping, cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, collecting Teddy Bears, playing cards, reading, watching the Vikings, and spending time with her family and friends.
Donna was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN.
Survivors include her loving husband of 71 ½ years, Ralph of Thief River Falls; children, Tom (Della) Hunt of MT, Don (Sherry) Hunt of Warroad, MN, Jeff (Vicki) Hunt of Thief River Falls; Cherie (Jerry) Theisen of Chaska, MN; grandchildren, Gayle Wickham, Nathan Hunt, Josh Hunt, Taya Bures, Jeremiah Hunt, Steven Theisen, Dan Theisen, Matt Theisen; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her children, Susan, John and Jennifer; parents; sister, LaVonne "Nonie" (George) Biedermann.
