Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN

Donna Reed, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Oakland Park Nursing in Thief River Falls, MN with her loving family at her side.

Funeral service will be held Friday, August 4, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Matthew Howe Officiating. Burial will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Donna LaVonne Reed was born November 21, 1929 daughter of Gunder and Gladys (Johnson) Grovum in Grygla, MN. She was born in Grygla where she lived for 9 years before moving to Thief River Falls, MN.

On September 15, 1950 she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Reed at Thief River Falls, MN. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls where Donna worked with her family at "The Club". She was also a secretary at Falls Clinic.

She enjoyed playing piano and listening to music, going to the casino, bingo, and working crossword puzzles. In her early years Donna enjoyed time spent at the family cabin on Pine Lake. Donna was always thinking of others, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she always greeted with a smile and a "wave".

Donna's faith was very important to her and she was an active member of Methodist Church, Eagles Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by her sons Gary Reed of Thief River Falls, MN and Scott Reed of Pine Lake; grandchildren Casey (Travis) Norris of Thief River Falls, MN; Meghan (Michael) Finch of Fargo, ND; Steven Reed of Scottsdale, AZ; Brett (Ashley) Reed of Thief River Falls, MN; Wyatt Reed of Thief River Falls, MN; Sidney Reed of Mahnomen, MN; Great-grandchildren Hailie Reed, Emma Reed, Ellie Finch, Tucker Norris, Mason Reed, Chase Norris, and Tegan Norris; along with many nieces and nephews.

Donna is preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2006, her parents Gunder and Gladys Grovum; brothers Wally Grovum and Ronnie Grovum; sister Marvel VanRooy.
