Donovan Theodore Majeres, of Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, Minnesota, surrounded by his loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, with Father Bob Schreiner officiating. Burial and Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Red Lake Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Donovan was born on March 7, 1935, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, the son of Mike and Cecilia (Schmitz) Majeres. He was baptized on April 11, 1935, and later confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Don attended St. Joseph Elementary School and Hugh’s Elementary School before graduating from Lafayette High School with the Class of 1953.

Don proudly served his country in the United States Army, entering service on February 20, 1958, and receiving his honorable discharge on February 19, 1960.

Following his military service, Don returned home to Red Lake Falls and was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Jean Amiot, on July 15, 1961, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Gentilly, Minnesota. Together they established their home on the family farm north of Red Lake Falls, where they raised their three children, Karen, Mark, and Richard.

Throughout his life, Don was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. He drove semi for the Red Lake Falls Silo Company, helped construct government steel grain bins throughout Red Lake Falls and many southern cities, completed extensive welding work on the Lafayette High School gymnasium, worked in several positions at American Crystal, and served as foreman at Alma Trailer Factory. In addition to his off-farm employment, Don operated a dairy and grain farm, continuing to farm until his retirement at the age of 80.

Faith, family, and community were at the center of Don’s life. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the American Legion, and the National Farmers Organization (NFO). He enjoyed the farming life, treasured time spent with family, and took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Jean Majeres of Red Lake Falls; children Karen (Kevin) Tansey of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Mark (Brenda) Majeres of Havre, Montana, and Richard (Kasi) Majeres of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota; grandchildren Sean and Luke Tansey, Jesse and Rachel Majeres, and Camille Majeres; sister Barbara Dufault of Mounds View, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Cecilia Majeres; infant daughter, Mary; brothers Michael, Theodore, and Gerald; and sister Yvonne.

Don will be remembered for his unwavering faith, steadfast devotion to his family, and remarkable work ethic. His legacy of love, service, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
