Doreen E. Nord, age 94 of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN.

Memorial Services will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:30 AM with Reverend Gary Graff Officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held on Friday 5 – 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Doreen Eliza Nord was born October 27, 1922 in Baker, ND, the daughter of Dewitt and Hazel (Watson) Huffman.  She lived in Minnewaukan, ND until she graduated in 1941.  After high school she attended Minot State Teachers' College.  She taught school before and after being united in marriage on July 6, 1943 at Presidio Army Chapel in San Francisco, CA to Victor J. Nord.  They had 8 children and lived in Battle Creek, MI until WWII ended.  They farmed near Devils Lake, ND until 1955 when they moved to Plummer, MN to continue farming after their farm was covered by the rising lake.  They moved to Red Lake Falls, MN in 1969.

Doreen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN.  She served as President of the Ladies Group, taught Sunday school and was Superintendent of Sunday school for 5 years there as well as Release time classes on Wednesdays.  She also was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and served as President.  She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church since 1969 and served 2 terms as President of WELCA and also 7th grade confirmation teacher.

Survivors include her children, her son David (Myrna) Nord of Warroad, MN; her daughters, Sandra Boice of Crookston, MN, Pauline Nord of Spring Park, MN, Cindy (Herb) Gosse of Staples, MN, Kay Nord of Fosston, MN; her 27 grandchildren; her 33 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; her brothers Lyle Huffman and Earl Huffman; her sisters Joyce Nord of  Larimore, ND, Ruth Larson of Wahpeton, ND.

Preceded in Death by her Husband Victor in February 2011; parents Dewitt and Hazel (Watson) Huffman; Sons Lyle Nord in 1982 and Kenneth Nord in 1997; Daughter Sherry Barlow in 2004; grandson Jonathan Nord in 1985; Brother Duane (Fay) Huffman; Sisters Evelyn Sheets in 1992 and Pearl Plummer in 2005; Son-in-law Bill Barlow in 1999; sisters-in-law Claris (Earl)Huffman,  Mavis (Lyle) Huffman; brothers-in-law Bud Dickinson, Sidney Nord, Garvin Plummer, Zina Sheets, Chester Larson; Nephew Rodney Huffman in 1998.
