Obituary

Doris Groslie Thief River Falls, MN age 102, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with her son, Steve and daughter, Julie by her side. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Golv and Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Doris Evangeline Langer was born October 28, 1912 at Thief River Falls, MN, one of nine children born to Charles and Julia (Gran) Langer. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls. She grew up and attended Knox and Central Schools, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1932. Doris worked as a clerk and in the various departments of Montgomery Wards, S&L and Bostwick's in Thief River Falls. On June 17, 1936, Doris was united in marriage to LeRoy Groslie in Thief River Falls and they continued to live in Thief River Falls. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and was also a member of the TRF Ladies Drum and Bugle Corps. Doris enjoyed crossword puzzles, embroidery, quilting, canning, baking, playing bingo, collecting rooster and hen figurines, and most of all loved spending time with her family. Survivors include a daughter, Julie (Ron) Madison of Brainerd, MN; son, Steve Groslie of Thief River Falls, MN; 5 grandchildren, Steve (Janell) Madison, Eric Groslie, Melissa Beier, Jill Anderson and Beth (Kevin) Halme; 9 great grandchildren, Breanna, Trentyn, Kira, Addison, Grant, Calvin, Gracie, Seri, and Brynn; great great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Harper; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by husband, LeRoy in 1985; sons, Lyle, George and Larry; parents; siblings, Agnes, Agnes's twin brother who died at birth, Morris, Helen, Clarence, Ardith, Violette, and Ione grandchildren, Mark Groslie, Michael Madison; and daughters-in-law, Wanda and Gaileen.
